The Bus Ride Chronicles
is a collection of stories about three friends who are just like us – kids who live in South Africa, who are growing up in a diverse country, with each of them having different experiences and challenges. Although they are all friends and at the same school, their unique contexts, communities, family environments and understandings shape and impact their experiences and challenges.
This book is designed to be a resource for kids, ages 10-13 years, as they navigate living in their contexts – their own backgrounds, communities, and frames of reference. This book is also designed to be a tool for parents, grandparents, guardians, and Kids Church leaders who are called to guide and lead them.
Using the tools of Ask, Think, and Pray, our hope is that you will be able to prompt and enable conversations that build and restore, develop resilience in our kids, and take the Bible beyond just information into practical equipping and application of God’s words and Jesus’ actions.

Jesus and Justice
God has given us everything we need to live well in the world we live in. He has given us His Word and His Holy Spirit to show us how to live like He did, how to love like He did, and how to make room for others.
We do not have to shy away from hard questions, we can use the tools, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ to help our kids navigate life. We can expose them to deep biblical truths, the richness of God, and the wholeness of His rescue plan for us.
Kids Church Curriculum
Living in our world can sometimes – well, more like often – feel overwhelming and disheartening. There is also lot of shouting going on. People are using loud, angry voices and complicated, clever words to tell us what we should think, how we should live, and what we should do. It is hard for us to navigate this – can you imagine what it is like for our kids?
The weight and responsibility of shaping the children in the care of Kids Church leaders is often a deeply personal burden, shared with parents, guardians, and caregivers.
Questions of discipleship and development are just as important for a Kids Church leader developing a curriculum as they are for a parent who is continually planning, thinking, and learning in order to lead and mentor their children well.
We would like this book, and this curriculum, to be a resource for you and your church, in whichever context you find yourselves.
